The purpose of the upgrade of almost 21 kilometres long section in Silesia was an increase of the speed on the railway line to a maximum 160 km/h. The upgrade included a reconstruction of the superstructure and substructure, and adaptation of level crossings and platforms. In addition, overhead lines, safety and communication equipment, electric heating for switches, lighting and cable connections were upgraded. The reconstruction of the underpasses was carried out in Chotěbuz and Karviná.  A new underpass was constructed in the station Louky nad Olší. The bridge over the Olše river and construction of noise barriers were part of the project.

The project was awarded titles Railway Construction of the Year 2020 in the category of Linear Constructions and Building of the Moravian-Silesian Region 2020 in the category of Transport, Civil Engineering and Water Management Structures.
