We are a multi-faceted construction company with a 60-year tradition, belonging to the Metrostav Group. Our production programme includes underground, civil, building construction, transport infrastructure, including metro, building services systems and technological units for infrastructure projects. We also construct water management structures or we are involved in rehabilitation of brownfield land. In addition to the domestic market, we operate abroad – especially in Slovakia, Hungary, Germany and Sweden. We have established subsidiaries in Hungary and Sweden. In recent years, our contracts in the field of underground and transport projects have represented approximately one third of our business. We focus on the high qualifications of our employees in all positions and their preparation for work abroad. We use modern machines and technologies especially in key segments of underground and transportation structures. We hold a number of certificates in the field of quality, environmental protection and safety. Every year we update the internal integrated management system. We act in accordance with legal regulations and with our own ethic codes. We behave responsibly and have long been involved in social, cultural and sports projects.

The history of the company dates back to 1964. In September 1964 the first blast was carried out on an experimental excavation of a water supply feeder from the Želivka reservoir to Prague. This was the beginning of the company, which has been transformed from the separate department of Uranium Mines Příbram through several other state enterprise companies related to underground construction, to today's joint-stock company Subterra a.s. It was established on 1st April 1992 based on a privatization project.

Since then, the company has expanded to civil, residential and industrial construction and to other fields of civil engineering. At the moment, the largest share of contracts is made of underground and transport construction.

Subterra occupies a leading position in the competition of large construction companies. This is due to its tradition, technical development and economic and personnel stability. In 2004, Subterra joined the Metrostav Group, where it was brought by its majority owner. This strengthened its position in the Czech construction market.

Certifications confirms the quality of construction. They show our care not only for quality but also for the environment and health protection at work.
