On Friday, October 11, the construction of the penultimate section of the D11 motorway was officially launched in the border village of Královec. The 21-kilometer-long section from Trutnov to the Polish border is being built by a contractor company led by MI Roads, of which Subterra is also a member. In addition to nearly thirty bridges and three interchanges, the motorway will also include two twin-tube tunnels, approximately half a kilometer long.

On Thursday, September 5, division 2 signed a contract for the reconstruction of Archbishop Grammar School in Prague, Vinohrady. The five-storey building in Korunní Street, which has an auditorium and a gym in the basement, will be modified when it comes to its structure and layout, and will undergo an overall modernization. The courtyard will be reopened, a barrier-free entrance, an elevator and an external escape staircase will be built. Division 2 will carry out the construction while the school is in operation.

On Wednesday, September 4, division 2 signed a contract for the construction of a multifunctional edifice in Reinerova Street in Prague, Řepy. The building, which is on a sloping site and was designed by Daďa Architects, will have two underground floors and four above ground. The building will have subsidized flats for employees, parking, commercial facilities and offices including a roof terrace. The structure will be made of reinforced concrete, while its façade of perforated and lacquered sheet metal.

On Saturday, August 3, this year’s Metrostav Handy Cyklo Marathon, a five-day charity race organized by the association Follow your Dream, ended at Štvanice in Prague. The eight-member Subterra team completed the 2,222-kilometer-long route across Czechia a day earlier and fell behind last year’s victory by a single place. Another representative of the company, Subterra Cycling Team, took seventh place, repeating last year’s result.

On Wednesday, July 31, representatives of division 2 signed a contract for remodeling of a house on Sudoměřská street in Prague, Žižkov into an apartment building. The multifunctional structure from the 1980s will be stripped down to its concrete skeleton, and the removal of the asbestos in the façade panels will be also part of this undertaking. In addition to a new layout, the building will get balconies, attics, lifts, and other features. There will be retail premises on the ground floor. The construction is planned for 22 months.

On Tuesday, June 25, the gala evening of the Czech Transport Construction & Technology of the Year 2023 competition took place in the Fanta Hall of the Main Railway Station in Prague. The title and also the prize of the magazine Roads and Railways was awarded to the tram line Divoká Šárka – Dědina in the construction of which divisions 3, 1 and 4 participated. The award was received by the commercial director Jiří Tesař and the project manager Pavel Zelina. The evening included the evaluation of the best works by university students, the prize of the company Subterra was awarded to Karel Síbrt from the Faculty of Transport Sciences of the Czech Technical University.

On Wednesday, May 29, the traditional sponsor’s concert of the Prague Spring International Music Festival, which Subterra has been supporting for more than thirty years, took place in the Dvořák Hall of Rudolfinum. The Prague Symphony Orchestra was conducted by Tomáš Brauner, while the German violinist Carolin Widmann played solos. There was a social gathering after the concert.

On Wednesday, May 21, the ceremonial commencement of the construction of a service centre for the company Emil Frey took place in Černý Most, Prague. The hall, the construction of which has begun this year, is being constructed by division 2 and is designed for workshops, paint shops and a showroom for the sale of used cars; it also includes a transformer station, car wash, parking lot and landscaping. Subterra was represented at the ceremony by the general director Ondřej Fuchs, the commercial director Jiří Tesař and the director of division 2 Petr Kajer.

On Thursday, April 25, the opening conference of the Building Fair Brno took place in Hall A3 of the Brno Exhibition Centre, whose golden sponsor was Subterra. Commercial director Jiří Tesař also took part in the panel of personalities, which was entitled Restart of the Czech Construction Industry, and in his presentation, he recalled this year’s 60th anniversary of the foundation of Subterra.
