On Monday, March 30, Division 3 signed a contract for the modernization of the Prague-Ruzyně – Kladno railway line. The contractor consortium also includes OHLA ŽS, Elektrizace železnic Praha, and Swietelsky Rail CZ. The 15-kilometer section represents a key stage of the railway connection from the capital to Kladno and will largely run on a new track.
On Tuesday, April 7, the reconstruction of the Hradec Králové railway station officially began. The project is being carried out by OHLA ŽS, division 3, and Elektrizace železnic Praha. Subterra was represented by its commercial director Jiří Tesař. In addition to the reconstruction of the tracks, technologies, and passenger facilities, this extensive project also includes connections to other modes of transportation. Completion of the modernization is scheduled for 2031.
In mid-March, a detailed geotechnical survey began for the Prostřední Vrch tunnel, which will be part of the D3 central Bohemian motorway in the Václavice–Voračice section. Following a preparatory phase of around three months and the installation of a micropile umbrella, an 838-metre-long exploratory tunnel will be excavated over a period of ten months, using the New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM) and blasting works. The contract for the Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD) is being carried out by division 1.
On Thursday, March 5, the 29th annual Railway Conference was held at the O2 Universum in Prague, with Subterra traditionally among its main partners. Tomáš Žák from division 1 gave a presentation about the reconstruction of four historic tunnels on the Tanvald–Kořenov railway line. Kamil Broda from division 3 presented the modernization of the Žilina railway station in Slovakia.
Division 1 continues to work on the Holstein Tunnel on the A44 motorway in the German state of Hesse, in cooperation with its sister company BeMo Tunnelling. Excavation of both tubes is currently underway, with approximately two-thirds of the total length of 1,664 meters already reached. At the end of last year, concrete work on the secondary lining also began.
On Wednesday, January 28, the results of the Railway Construction of the Year 2025 competition were announced in the Fanta Hall of Prague’s main station. The award for the reconstruction of the Dolnolučanský Tunnel on the Liberec–Tanvald track was accepted by division 1 director David Cyroň and commercial deputy Ladislav Šabach. The award for the modernization of the Čelákovice–Mstětice railway track, in which division 3 participated, was accepted by project manager Pavel Zelina.
On Wednesday, January 21, the boring of the Opevnění motorway tunnel was ceremonially lunched. It is being carried out by division 1 and Metrostav TBR. As part of the ceremony, the traditional blessing and placement of a statuette of Saint Barbara, the patron saint of miners, took place. The twin-tube tunnel, with a length of 492 meters, will form part of the 21-kilometer section of the D1 between Trutnov and the border with Poland, whose construction is led by MI Roads. Division 1 was represented by its director, David Cyroň.
On Friday, December 19, after nearly a year of reconstruction, the Pankrác C metro station in Prague was opened. The renovation of the station, which included new surfaces and technologies as well as the construction of an underpass and a future transfer, is part of the construction of the Pankrác–Olbrachova line D, which has been led by division 5 since 2022. At the ceremony, which took place more than two weeks ahead of schedule, Subterra was represented by the general director Ondřej Fuchs.
On Friday, December 5, the Sdružení Kindergarten in Prague’s Nusle ceremonially opened its renovated kitchen. The project, carried out by division 2 in four months, included new ventilation, water, and electrical installations, modern gastronomic equipment, and other exterior and interior renovations. The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Prague 4 municipal district, as well as Petr Kajer, director of division 2.
