The construction of the 3.6-kilometer-long road tunnel, which is being carried out by division 1 and BeMo Tunnelling in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the German Alps, continues. Last week, the concreting of the main tube was completed, which was closed by the portal blocks and by connecting the tunnel to the cavern. The construction also includes a ventilation shaft and an escape shaft with thirteen cross passages.
The second year of the Subterra Golf Cup took place on Thursday, June 8, at the Cihelny Golf & Wellness Resort in Karlovy Vary region. Nearly fifty players from among business partners and employees competed in two categories using the Stableford system. The best golfers were awarded by the director of division 2 Petr Kajer.
On Thursday, June 8, the gala evening of the Czech Transport Construction & Technology of the Year 2022 competition took place in the hall of the Municipal Library in Prague. The 20th year also brought awards to two projects on which Subterra worked. The prize in the category of Motorway and Road Constructions went to the roundabouts in Kladno, a project of division 4. The best transport construction carried out abroad was the Milochov railway tunnel on the Slovak Púchov-Žilina line, in the construction of which divisions 1, 3 and 4 participated.
From May 29 to 30, the Clarion Congress Hotel in Vysočany hosted the fifteenth international conference Underground Construction Prague. Subterra, the platinum partner of the event, was represented by divisions 1, 4 and 5 and selected projects from Czechia and abroad. In addition to the exhibition, lectures and poster section, the conference also included several excursions to construction sites, including the Pankrác–Olbrachtova metro D line in Prague.
On Thursday, May 18, the Smetana Hall of the Municipal House hosted the traditional sponsor’s concert of the Prague Spring International Music Festival, which Subterra has been supporting for more than three decades. The Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra was led by the German conductor Cornelius Meister and the soloist of the evening was violinist Jan Mráček. The concert was followed by a social gathering.
On Friday, April 28, the first tram with guests passed through the Žabovřeská tunnel in Brno; after the opening ceremony, also the public could see the completed construction. Regular operation started on Monday, May 1. The 500-meter-long tunnel was built over a period of two years by division 1, the technological equipment was provided by division 4. The construction of this part of the Great Urban Ring Road continues, with the first two lanes of the adjacent road to be opened in August.
On Friday, April 14, the reconstruction of Brno – Maloměřice – Adamov railway track was ceremonially completed, the event also included the adjacent section. The works on the more than nine-kilometer-long track started in October 2021 under the leadership of division 3, with the reconstruction of four tunnels, also division 1 took part in the construction. The operation was launched last December. Business director Jiří Tesař cut the ribbon on behalf of Subterra.
On Thursday, April 4, Subterra Subterra’s annual program programmatic conference was held. In the premises of the Prague DOX+ centre, General Director Ondřej Fuchs spoke first, followed by a presentation of the company’s results by Financial Director Pavel Zykán. The programme also included presentations of selected projects and the conference was traditionally closed with the awarding of the best employees for the past year.
At the end of March, the rail mechanisation deparment took delivery of two new Liebherr A 922 Rail double-track excavators, bringing the number of these machines to twelve. The two-track excavators have a wide range of applications in rail construction, for example they can move sleepers or sweep gravel thanks to adapters. The new machines were immediately deployed on projects in progress.
