Division 1 continues to work on the Holstein tunnel on the A44 motorway in the German state of Hesse, in cooperation with its sister company BeMo Tunnelling. Excavation of both tubes is currently underway, with approximately two-thirds of the total length of 1,664 meters already reached. At the end of last year, concrete work on the secondary lining also began.
On Wednesday, January 28, the results of the Railway Construction of the Year 2025 competition were announced in the Fanta Hall of Prague’s main station. The award for the reconstruction of the Dolnolučanský Tunnel on the Liberec–Tanvald track was accepted by division 1 director David Cyroň and commercial deputy Ladislav Šabach. The award for the modernization of the Čelákovice–Mstětice railway track, in which division 3 participated, was accepted by project manager Pavel Zelina.
On Wednesday, January 21, the boring of the Opevnění motorway tunnel was ceremonially lunched. It is being carried out by division 1 and Metrostav TBR. As part of the ceremony, the traditional blessing and placement of a statuette of Saint Barbara, the patron saint of miners, took place. The twin-tube tunnel, with a length of 492 meters, will form part of the 21-kilometer section of the D1 between Trutnov and the border with Poland, whose construction is led by MI Roads. Division 1 was represented by its director, David Cyroň.
On Friday, December 19, after nearly a year of reconstruction, the Pankrác C metro station in Prague was opened. The renovation of the station, which included new surfaces and technologies as well as the construction of an underpass and a future transfer, is part of the construction of the Pankrác–Olbrachova line D, which has been led by division 5 since 2022. At the ceremony, which took place more than two weeks ahead of schedule, Subterra was represented by the general director Ondřej Fuchs.
On Friday, December 5, the Sdružení Kindergarten in Prague’s Nusle ceremonially opened its renovated kitchen. The project, carried out by division 2 in four months, included new ventilation, water, and electrical installations, modern gastronomic equipment, and other exterior and interior renovations. The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Prague 4 municipal district, as well as Petr Kajer, director of division 2.
On Monday, November 10, the Emil Frey service center was officially opened in Prague’s Černý Most district. The three-storey building, which in addition to workshops and paint shops also includes a showroom for used cars, was built by division 2, while division 4 supplied technical equipment. Subterra was represented by general director Ondřej Fuchs and commercial deputy of division 2 Jan Povejšil.
On Tuesday, November 4, the results of the Construction of the Year 2025 competition were announced at the Rudolfinum in Prague. Four projects, in which Subterra took part, were successful. One of the titles was awarded to the Žabovřeská Great City Ring in Brno with a tram tunnel. The State Fund for Transport Infrastructure award was given to the Brno railway line – Zastávka u Brna, while the award of the Czech Chamber of Authorized Engineers and Technicians was given to the Mstětice – Prague-Vysočany railway line. The public award for Foreign Construction of the Year went to the Spitzenberg highway tunnel in Germany.
On Monday, September 8, a ceremony marking the start of modernization of the Kojetín–Přerov railway track took place at Chropyně station. The 17-kilometer section will be rebuilt for speeds of 200 km/h, and fourteen level crossings will be removed. The contractor, led by division 3, also includes OHLA ŽS, Swietelsky Rail, Elektrizace železnic Praha, and Firesta. Jiří Tesař, commecial director, spoke on behalf of Subterra and tapped the rail.
On Saturday, September 6, construction of the primary school was officially launched in Doubravčice, Central Bohemia. Division 2 is the general contractor for the project, including construction documentation, and its director, Petr Kajer, spoke at the ceremony. The building, with a capacity of 420 students, will include classrooms, specialized classrooms, a gym, and a canteen, and is scheduled for completion in mid-2027.
