On Thursday, April 4, Subterra Subterra’s annual program programmatic conference was held. In the premises of the Prague DOX+ centre, General Director Ondřej Fuchs spoke first, followed by a presentation of the company’s results by Financial Director Pavel Zykán. The programme also included presentations of selected projects and the conference was traditionally closed with the awarding of the best employees for the past year.
At the end of March, the rail mechanisation deparment took delivery of two new Liebherr A 922 Rail double-track excavators, bringing the number of these machines to twelve. The two-track excavators have a wide range of applications in rail construction, for example they can move sleepers or sweep gravel thanks to adapters. The new machines were immediately deployed on projects in progress.
On Thursday, March 2, division 2 signed a contract for the reconstruction and modernization of the Archbishop Grammar School and the Christian Youth Residence, which are located in Vinohrady, Prague. Both adjacent, five-storey buildings on the corner of Korunní and Francouzská streets will be modified in terms of their structures and layouts, along with some new functions, the interiors will also get a more modern appearance.
On Thursday, March 2, the launching ceremony of the tunnel boring machine took place in Dolany. Division 1 will use the machine, named Jaromír, in the next six months to build a 650-meter-long sewer for the drainage of the Jaroměř bypass. The project is being carried out by Metrostav Infrastructure. Pavel Kacíř, the production manager of division 1, attended the ceremony.
On Wednesday, February 15, selected students from the Secondary Technical School in Kutná Hora visited the construction site of the Prague metro D at Pankrác. They viewed the excavation process and the modern, automated machines, for which their fields of study – electrical technology and IT – are also essential. The construction of the first section of the new D line Pankrác-Olbrachtova was ceremoniously commenced last April, the project is to be completed in 2029.
On Thursday, February 9, the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Žilina held an open day, which also included a career day. Subterra presented itself to the students with a stand and a video with selected buildings, the representatives of divisions 1 and 3 took part in the event. In addition to reaching out to future employees, further cooperation is planned with the school, whose 70-year history is mainly related to transport constructions.
On Thursday, January 12, the awards in last year’ s Railway Construction of the Year competition were announced in Prague. Among the best projects which the Railway Administration selected, there were also two constructions in which division 3 participated. The award for the modernization of railway stations and junctions was awarded to the reconstruction of the Přerov railway station, the general director’s prize was given to the reconstruction of the Velim-Poříčany rail corridor.
Since last summer, division 3 has been working with divisions 1 and 4 on the new tram line Divoká Šárka – Dědinská in Prague. The construction also includes the relocation of a water supply pipeline, which was carried out by division 4 in Drnovská street. The cast iron pipeline with a diameter of 1 200 millimeters and a length of over 150 meters passed a pressure test and was connected to the water supply network at the beginning of December.
On Saturday, December 10, in the presence of the prime minister and other guests, the operation on the reconstructed railway line Brno-Maloměřice-Adamov was launched. The ceremony included three related constructions which were jointly launched last year in October. Division 1 participated in the modernization of the nine-kilometer-long section, led by division 3, by repairing four tunnels. Subterra was represented by its business director Jiří Tesař.
