On Friday November 20, Subterra confirmed the continuation of its partnership with the Cesta za snem society, which connects non-disabled and handicapped people by organizing sport and other events. The year 2021 will be the fifth year of collaboration. The contract was signed by General Director Ondřej Fuchs, Commercial Director Jiří Tesař and Chairman of the society Heřman Volf.
On Thursday, November 12, representatives of the Slovak railways and contractor companies signed a contract for modernization of the railway track in and around Žilina. Confirmation of the large project featured the minister of transport and construction, Andrej Doležal. Division 3 will participate in the construction, more than 16 kilometers long; the works should take about four years.
Construction of the Great Brno Ring Road Žabovřeská has entered phase II. On Tuesday, November 3, a contract was signed regarding a roughly one-kilometer-long section of the road along the Svratka river, including the relocation of a tramway track into a half-kilometer tunnel. The construction, with the participation of divison 1, should begin this year and be completed by 2024.
Construction of the M85 expressway in northwest Hungary, on which our daughter company Subterra – Raab is participating, is in progress. Phase V features a two-tube tunnel under the Bécsi domb (Viennese Hill) close to the city of Sopron. On Monday, October 16, the building site hosted a ceremony placing a statue of Saint Barbara, which will symbolically supervise the excavation.
Divison 4 has delivered a fire extinguishing system for the Bubenská 1 office building. The complete reconstruction of one of the most significant Modernist monuments in Prague, originating in 1935, was carried out by Metrostav. Division 4, which had been working on the large building for more than one year and a quarter, will also participate in equipping tenant spaces.
Since late September, division 2 has been working on the renovation of the Ledebourg Palace in Prague. The baroque monument on the Waldstein Square, whose garden goes up to Prague Castle, will get new installations and toilets. The project also features the decoration of the interior, including the restoration of frescos and reparation of the facade. Works should take more than a year and a half.
The Jaroměř railway station now has a modern form after a general reconstruction, on which division 3 had participated since 2018. Works on the important junction were affected by large archaeological finds. Apart form new rail tracks, overhead lines and safety equipment, the project also featured the construction of a new underpass and platforms with barrier-free access.
On Thursday, September 17 the results of the Building of the Year in Central Bohemia Region 2020 competition, organized by ABF Foundation, were announced in Kutná Hora. One of the special prices, awarded to a private investor for a long-term municipal development conception, was given to the Řevnice Brewery. The conversion of an old railway building was carried out by division 2.
On Monday, September 7, the double-track Milochov Tunnel, a part of the modernized Púchov – Považská Teplá railway line, was broken through. The ceremony at the western portal featured Slovak minister of transport and construction Andrej Doležal and other guests. The 1,861-meter long tunnel, which goes through Stavná Hill, has been excavated by division 1 since 2018.
