Division 1 and BeMo Tunnelling are carrying on the construction of the German Spitzenberg Tunnel. The concrete casting of the secondary lining had started with the western tube from the northern portal, where a mobile concrete plant is also situated. Then the formwork complex was moved into the eastern tube. The tunnel, which has a length of 600 meters on the A44 highway, should be put into operation next year.
Subterra is carrying on developing a network of collaborating schools that provide technical education. On Thursday, February 25, a long-term partnership with the Higher Professional School, Secondary Technical School and Language School in Kutná Hora was confirmed. At the school, which celebrated 150 years since the foundation last year, Subterra will provide support in electrotechnics through its division 4.
Division 2 will work on the overall renovation of a housing block in Prague-Žižkov. The project features the modification of the structure, the thermal insulation of the facade and roof, and the exchange of windows and banisters. On ground floors, the gallery will be replaced by residential and commercial spaces. The reconstruction, which will start in April, should be completed in one year.
Since the middle of last year, the 16-kilometer long section of the Ist railway corridor has been being modernized, featuring division 3. The upgrade, financed by the Blending Call EU programme, concerns tracks, technologies, crossings, and platforms. Division 3 works mainly on the reconstruction of the track substructure and superstructure in the Poříčany station.
In the winter resort of Garmisch-Partenkirche in the German Alps, division 1 and BeMo Tunnelling are excavating the one-tube Kramer Tunnel, a part of the B23 highway. From the total lenght of the tunnel, 3.6 kilometers, by February about 2 kilometers had been excavated. The works proceed from both portals, from the south the rock is crushed by explosives, from the north mechanically.
On Wednesday, February 16, Subterra made an agreement on long-term partnership with the Třebešín Secondary Technical School in Prague. The collaboration is focused mainly on engineering and air-conditioning. Subterra will offer pupils and teachers field experience, trainings, temporary jobs, lectures, and other activities supporting professional practice and promoting technical education in general.
Divison 3 has started work on the modernization of the Žilina Railway Junction in Slovakia. The large project includes four stations, a 16-kilometer-long track and many other objects. Division 3 participates mainly by reconstructing the track superstructure and constructing noise barriers. The construction site was taken over in December, and the project should take about four years.
On Tuesday, February 9, a testing volume of explosive was blasted in Žabovřeská Street in Brno, to be used for the excavation of the tramway tunnel. The half-kilometer tube under the hill of Wilson Forest will be a part of the Great Brno Ring Road. A roughly one-kilometer-long section of the road will follow the Svratka River. Division 1 will start the excavation in April, and the whole construction should be completed in 2024.
Division 2 is carrying out a general reconstruction of the secondary school in Prague-Hrdlořezy, which will result in an intelligent, energetically self-sufficient building. The innovative project features renewable resources, advanced technologies, and environmentally-friendly materials, such special wood panels on the facade. The reconstruction should be completed in less than one year.
