On Wednesday, June 9, part of phase IV of the M85 expressway in northwest Hungary was ceremonially opened. The 2.5-kilometer long section is bounded by the Balf Junction. The daughter company Subterra – Raab is carrying on the work on the remaining part of phase IV by connecting both the city of Sopron and also on subsequent phase V.
According to tradition, the statue of Saint Barbara, the patron saint of underground workers, was ceremonially placed, on Thursday June 10th, to the construction site of the Žabovřeská tramway tunnel in Brno, excavated by division 1 since the beginning of May. The cast-iron statue of the saint was blessed by the bishop Vojtěch Cikrle in the Brno cathedral and afterwards it was placed by workers of division 1 into a box at the northern portal.
Division 4 is participating in gradual renovation of technological equipment of twelve stations of Prague Metro. Ventilation systems and electric installations are being reconstructed, technologies are replaced and adjusted according to present requirements. Works always take place at three stations at once, the project should be completed in autumn 2022.
Since February last year, division 2 has been participating in the construction of the new building for the archive in Louny. Now the mounting of the prefabricated facade and landscaping are being finalized. In the interior, floors, walls and ceiling are being realized and simultaneously technologies are being installed – electric installations, heating and cooling, ventilation and a stable fire extinguishing system.
Subterra has expanded its machinery and this spring acquired a Volvo FH16 Tow Truck 650 8×4 with the Fassi F275 eDynamic hydraulic loading crane which is complemented by a Meusburger four-axle expandable semitrailer. The set is used for transportation of railway machinery or material, its latest employment was the reconstruction of the Poříčany station.
The Swedish daughter company SBT Sverige carries out the secondary lining of the Skärholmen highway tunnel in Stockholm. With the excavation by the Scandinavian method, the lining consists of a membrane and sprayed concrete, respectively of prefabricated wall elements. The membrane and prefabricated elements are carried by hundreds thousands anchors, manually installed into drill holes.
In Prague-Suchdol, division 4 is building a sewerage that will conduct sewage to the Central Water Treatment Plant. The sewer in Kamýcká Street, which will have about 550 meters in length, is being realized mostly by a no-dig method, the pipe is bored in a depth of more than seven meters. The construction should be completed this September.
The daughter company Subterra – Raab has completed another part of the M85 expressway in northwest Hungary that forms the bypass of the city of Sopron near the Austrian border. The most complicated part of phase IV is the Balf Junction. Subterra – Raab also participates in phase V, which should be completed in 2024.
Divison 3 is participating in the large modernization of the Žilina railway junction in Slovakia, featuring the rebuilding of four stations and the 16-kilometer-long track. Now division 3 is building noise barriers and also working on the reconstruction of tracks. The building site was taken over last December, the complete modernization will take four years.
