The Herrschaftsbuck highway tunnel in southern Germany was put into operation in December. The 480-meter-long twin-tube tunnel had been excavated by division 1 and BeMo Tunnelling from July 2017, the construction part was finished in the middle of the year 2020. The tunnel is situated on A98 Highway, close to the Swiss border.
On Wednesday, December 15, the first train passed through the Milochov railway tunnel on the 16-kilometer-long Púchov – Považská Teplá railroad track in Slovakia. Division 1 constructed the 1 861-meter-long double-track tube including the 260-meter-long emergency gallery, complicated excavations started four years ago. Division 4 supplied the lighting, division 3 coordinated the whole project.
The second Railway Construction of the Year competition brought an award to the project led by division 3. The National Railway Infrastructure Management (Správa železnic) selected the modernization and electrification of Šakvice – Hustopeče railway line at Brno as the best linear construction carried out in the years from 2019 to 2021. On Thursday, December 9, the award for division 3 was received by director Miroslav Kadlec and commercial deputy Josef Lorenc at the railway station in Hustopeče.
Division 4 installed the technical equipment for the technological building of UMPRUM in Mikulandská street in Prague. Completed in November, the structure which was made by Metrostav according to the design of Ivan Kroupa, is a renovated elementary school and contains mainly studios and workshops. Division 4 supplied the electric, water, gas, heating, and cooling installations and, also a stable fire extinguishing system. All the installations are exposed.
In November, Technical Service Subterra completed the overall repair of the machine Meyco Potenza used for spraying concrete. The commission for the sister company BeMo Tunneling had been carried out since October and included replacement of damaged parts, upgrade of some elements, coating, and the necessary documentation. The repaired machine will be put into operation in tunnel constructions in Germany.
On Tuesday, November 23, an excursion in the tunnels on highway D8 for students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague took place. The group viewed the technological equipment of the Panenská and Libouchec tunnels, serviced by division 4. Apart from the tubes, the participants also visited the technical operations center, cross passages and other parts of both structures including the central dispatch in Řehlovice.
Works on the secondary lining of the Skärholmen highway tunnel, built by daughter company SBT Sverige AB, continue by the final layer. The surface of the ceiling is made of concrete sprayed onto an insulation membrane and a steel reinforcement. The mixture with the admixture of polypropylene fibers is applied in three layers, the total thickness of concrete is 120 millimeters.
On Friday, November 12, students of the Secondary Technical School of Civil Engineering in Kladno visited the local ice rink whose reconstruction has been done by division 2 since the beginning of this year. The excursion focused especially on the most exacting part of the project, the installation of the new roof structure. The main steel tie beams weighing 22 tons have already been placed and the works continue by interconnecting them.
The construction of the Kramer Tunnel in German Garmisch-Partenkirchen reached the breakthrough of the main tube on Wednesday, October 27. Already since September, the concreting of the final lining is being carried out. There are more than 300 meters left to the breakthrough of the emergency gallery. The 3.6-kilometer-long tunnel of the north-western bypass of the Alpine resort is constructed by division 1 and BeMo Tunnelling, the project should be completed in 2023.
