Client:
Železnice Slovenskej republiky
Designer:
REMING CONSULT a.s.
Contractor:
Subterra a.s., Strabag, s.r.o., Eurovia CS, a.s. and AŽD Praha s.r.o.

The extensive modernization of the Žilina railway station and related infrastructure is the first project of its kind in Slovakia. The transformation of the important railway junction brings more comfortable travel by train, more efficient transport of goods and an improvement in the overall traffic situation in the city centre (thanks to overpasses and underpasses).

Absorption walls and elements in the track help to reduce noise. The modernization includes sixteen kilometres of the railway line and four stations Žilina, Žilina-Teplička and Varín. The Žilina-předměstí stop is newly built. Subterra a.s. is involved in reconstruction of rails (52 kilometres) and builds noise walls and other structures.
