Modernization and Electrification of Railway Line between Hrušovany u Brna and Židlochovice

It is a three-kilometre long regional railway line, which forms a branch of the busy Brno–Břeclav railway line. Passenger transport on this line will be resumed after forty years. The modernization consisted of the replacement and improvement of the track superstructure and substructure. Completely new overhead lines, safety and communication equipment were installed and railway crossings and of other objects were modified. The project also included a refurbishment of dispatcher’s buildings and modernization of both railway stations to contemporary standards. This included construction of raised platforms, installation of lighting and radio system. A new bus terminal was built in the vicinity of the Židlochovice train station to serve regional bus transport.

The project was awarded the title Building of the South Moravian Region 2019 in the category of Transport and Civil Engineering and won the SPS award in the Czech Transport Construction, Technology, Innovation of the Year 2021 competition.
